The Warsaw Uprising began on August 1, 1944, at 5:00 PM (W hour) and lasted until October 3. It was an armed rebellion by the Polish resistance, primarily the Home Army, against the occupiers in Warsaw. Despite initial successes, the rebels could not withstand the superiority of German forces and the lack of external support. After 63 days of intense fighting, the uprising was suppressed. To this day, the Warsaw Uprising remains a symbol of courage and sacrifice for higher values.
