Welcome to the Wayback Tours travel agency! You’re about to embark on a three-day journey through history. Stick to the plan and try to travel chronologically, and you won’t be disappointed!
Trekking Through History is a strategic family game that takes players on a unique tour of the most significant events in human history. During the game, you’ll select special history cards and try to keep them in the correct order to score as many points as possible. Thanks to variable setups and individual goal boards, the game remains highly engaging even after multiple plays, while atmospheric illustrations and descriptions of historical events give the game an educational feel.
What’s it about?
The game Trekking Through History is played over 3 rounds, each corresponding to a stage of your trip. Each day you’ll spend a different number of hours attending important historical events. It’s up to you which historical period you visit, but it’s wise to maintain the chronology of the events you experience to score the most points.
On the game board, event cards await, and you can move to them. Time is the currency in the game, shown on a special time track, and a card’s cost depends on where it is placed. If you really want a particular card, you can move further along the time track, but keep in mind that it also determines turn order. In this game, players don’t take turns in a fixed sequence; the active player is the one furthest back on the time track. A seemingly advantageous move can become less attractive when you realize it may allow your opponents to take two turns before you catch up.
The story cards you collect grant experience tokens that help you complete personal goals. Each player has their own itinerary requiring a different combination of tokens. Completing these goals earns valuable points. You also score for completed journeys—sets of collected story cards forming an unbroken chronological sequence. The more cards you chain together, the more points you’ll receive.
