The braid machine is powered by 2 AA 1.5 V batteries (not included), while the bead applicator does not require batteries. Using the devices is very simple. To braid, insert 2 strands of hair (or 3 strands for classic braids) into the openings in the clamps and slide the diamond button upward. To apply a bead to the hair, place a bead on the applicator, insert a hair strand into the hook on the applicator, and slide the diamond button in the center of the device upward. Hold the bead and remove the applicator. Done!
